John Wise: A Volunteer Leader with a Decade of Dedication and Impact

As we wrap up our National Volunteer Week spotlight series, we’re honored to recognize our final featured volunteer—Board President John Wise of Carriage Hills Condominium Association in Florida.

For John, what began as informal involvement and conversations about board agendas quickly grew into something more: a lasting commitment to action. Nearly 12 years later—10 of those as Board President—John has helped shape the Carriage Hills Condominium Association into a stronger, more resilient community.

The Rewards of Serving Your Community

Ask John what’s been most rewarding about serving on the board, and he points to results you can see and feel.

“The most fulfilling part has been seeing real, tangible improvements in the community… creating a better place for people to live,” he says.

From securing a multi-million-dollar insurance claim after Hurricane Irma—resulting in full roof replacements—to completing major infrastructure upgrades and clubhouse renovations without special assessments, John has consistently prioritized long-term value and sound decision-making.

He has also strengthened financial planning, built reliable vendor partnerships, and negotiated cost-saving agreements that deliver everyday benefits for residents—demonstrating how effective board leadership can turn effort into meaningful outcomes.

For those considering serving on condominium boards, John offers this advice: “Serving on a board is one of the most direct ways to make a meaningful impact… to be part of the solution rather than simply observing from the sidelines.”

Leading Residents Through Challenging Times

John’s leadership has been especially impactful during critical moments. During COVID-19, he helped bring essential resources directly to residents by hosting one of the first vaccination sites in South Florida.

At the same time, he found creative ways to keep the community connected—launching a “Music on the Lake” experience that allowed residents to safely gather and engage, even at a distance.

His vision is clear: to maintain a well-run, financially sound, and well-maintained community that residents are proud to call home. This vision continues to guide key decisions—from infrastructure investments to long-term planning—ensuring the community remains strong for years to come.

Thank You, John

Because of your efforts, Carriage Hills Condominium Association isn’t just maintained—it’s meaningfully improved in ways residents can see, feel, and experience every day. We’re proud to recognize your contributions during National Volunteer Week.
