Women's History Month Spotlight - Thesala Jones

During Women’s History Month, RealManage continues to recognize the leaders whose experiences and perspectives help shape our culture and strengthen our organization. In this installment, we highlight Thesala Jones, Director of Human Resources in California, whose career reflects a deep commitment to helping others grow, succeed, and feel supported in their work.

With more than 20 years of experience across industries ranging from global corporations to nonprofits and government organizations, Thesala brings a broad and thoughtful perspective to her role, one grounded in people-first leadership and meaningful connection.

A Career Guided by Purpose

For Thesala, the desire to help others began early.

“As a little girl, I always wanted to help people,” she shares.

Her career started in the food service and hospitality industry, where she developed a strong foundation in service, teamwork, and people-focused leadership. Over time, mentors recognized her potential and encouraged her to explore opportunities in human resources, a transition that would shape the next two decades of her career.

Since then, Thesala has built experience across a wide range of industries, gaining insight into how organizations operate and how strong people practices can drive success. That journey ultimately led her to RealManage, where she now serves as Director of Human Resources for California.

Helping People Perform at Their Best

In her current role, Thesala focuses on supporting both employees and leaders; helping them navigate challenges, grow professionally, and access the tools they need to succeed.

For her, the most meaningful part of the work is seeing the impact of that support in real time.

Whether it’s helping someone build confidence, overcome a challenge, or take the next step in their career, Thesala finds fulfillment in knowing her work contributes to individual growth and organizational success.

“When people succeed, the entire organization benefits,” she says. That belief continues to guide her approach to leadership and her commitment to fostering environments where people feel valued and empowered.

Paying Mentorship Forward

Mentorship has played a defining role in Thesala’s own career, and she is intentional about creating those same opportunities for others.

Throughout her career, she has participated in both formal and informal mentorship programs, including her current work as a volunteer mentor through the San Diego SHRM chapter. In that role, she supports professionals who are looking to grow their careers and expand their leadership capabilities.

Beyond formal programs, Thesala also makes space for informal conversations, offering guidance, perspective, and support to those navigating career decisions.

Having built her career in industries that were often predominantly male, she understands the importance of supporting women as they grow into leadership roles. For her, mentorship is not just about advice; it’s about connection, encouragement, and helping others see what’s possible.

Creating Balance Through Boundaries

Balancing multiple roles is a reality for many women in leadership, and Thesala has learned that setting clear boundaries is essential.

By being intentional about how she manages her time and energy, she is able to stay present and effective in both her professional and personal life.

Establishing and maintaining those boundaries not only supports her own well-being but also sets an example for others, demonstrating that it’s possible to build a meaningful career while still prioritizing personal responsibilities and self-care.

For Thesala, balance isn’t about doing everything at once—it’s about being fully present in each moment and making thoughtful choices about where to focus her time and energy.

The Power of Asking for Support

For women looking to grow into leadership roles, Thesala emphasizes one key message: you don’t have to do it alone.

She encourages women to seek out guidance, ask questions, and actively pursue mentorship opportunities. Growth, she believes, is built through connection and collaboration.

Asking for help is not a weakness, it’s a sign of commitment to learning and development. The relationships formed through mentorship and support often become the foundation for long-term success.

By reaching out, building connections, and remaining open to learning, women can continue to expand their opportunities and move confidently into leadership roles.
